At least in theory Ultra HD Bluray players are designed to be backwards compatible with viewing on any HDTV or 1080p display However most professional reviews only focus for obvious reasons

ReplyDeleteHi Yes you can watch them but the player you are using uses the 1080P codec to play the file Hence it is of no use to watch the 4K file on 1080P screen Cheers

ReplyDeleteNothing to do with the TV downscaling 4k The Sky Q box will only output 4k if it receives the correct responses back from the TV on the HDMI cable Also the TV would have no way of decoding the 4k signal so forget that option
ReplyDeleteYes just checked and all four HD channels are switching between 1080i50 1080p25 according to their content I believe that this had to happen before the fifth channel was added as it helps retain PQ when the bitrates are brought down to 8Mbps per channel on average although dont forget that H264MPEG4 is being used not MPEG2
ReplyDeleteCable does matter actually An old cable prior to 12 I believe wont work I know because Ive tried it OP getting 4K30Hz should be automatic getting 60Hz takes tweaking If the system doesnt default to 4K30Hz get a new cable Your GTX 970 is perfectly capable of 4K60Hz444 chroma Again I know because Ive tested it
ReplyDeleteI have a 56 Samsung 1080p HDTV in the living room that wont accept 1080p on HD DVR Receiver but my 32 Vizio 1080p HDTV will on my bedrooms HD receiver why is this It also plays different channels in different resolutions for example ESPN HD will play in 1080i in the bedroom and in 720p in the living room exact same channel at exact same time
ReplyDeleteI think it looks terrible I use my 1080p screen for moviestv and 1440 for PC gaming I watch crunchroll funimation Netflix Hulu and HBO I noticed edges were blurred and since I watch a lot of animation it was showing all of the flaws of my 1440p trying to scale 1080p content
